Vermont withholds income tax from wages at 3.35% to 8.75% using single and married tables, after $5,400 a year per W-4VT allowance. Employers pay a 0.44% Child Care Contribution on wages and may withhold up to 0.11% of wages from employees. Unemployment insurance is employer-paid on the first $15,400, 1% for new employers from July 1, 2026.

- Each allowance is $5,400 a year ($207.69 biweekly).
- Married employees, including civil union partners, use the married table. Head of household uses the single table.
- Without a W-4VT the employer may use the federal W-4, though that can under-withhold.
- 401(k) and Section 125 deductions reduce Vermont wages.

- Child Care Contribution (employee share, optional): Up to 0.11% of wages Only if the employer chooses to pass up to 25% of its 0.44% contribution to employees.
